Monsanto has genetically engineered soybeans and corn, which was once a healthy grain, and turned it into a genetically modified organism that can’t be killed – not even by the company’s own pesticide. They have taken it a step further, even, to produce a toxin that kills corn borer worms. Fascinating science? Indeed. However, have you considered the effects of that science on your waistline, and your good health?
Scientists relayed their results of a study on rats on a report in the Archives of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology. The rats were fed GMO for 3 months, and as this is what happened to them:
- They gained weight.
- They tested positive for kidney and liver toxicity.
Their triglyceride levels increased by 40% (this leads to heart disease, diabetes and Metabolic Syndrome X)
While we humans don’t eat simple GMO corn products like the rats did, we consume myriad products that contain corn sweetener, which is an ingredient of tonic water and all sorts of processed foods, such as sodas, snacks, breads, salad dressings and candy.
Turning corn into high fructose corn syrup already changes it dramatically, a modification that introduces abnormal molecules to the body and that leads to obesity.
Dr. Norm Childers discovered the relationship between dietary nightshade foods and human tendonitis and arthritis and he believes that GMO corn may lead to intermittent joint pain, arthralgias, irritable bowel syndrome, rectal bleeding and other conditions.
GMO Take Away
If you want to lose weight, or be healthy, you have to consider the effects of GMO on your body. Remember that anything that is genetically modified, is foreign and will not behave in the same way as naturally grown foods. It causes long-term detrimental effects.
I would personally avoid foods that contain high fructose corn syrup, or basically any corn syrup or corn sugar.
